Neck Lift (Platysmaplasty)
Tightened, elevated contours are the goal of an excellent neck lift. The neck should be easily distinguished from the jawline, lending an elegant transition from the shoulders to the head. Dr. Jaggi’s neck lift is a rejuvenation surgery that addresses sagging muscles, loose skin & wrinkles around the neck.
There are many ways to create a more aesthetically pleasing neckline. Which method will be used is determined by individual anatomy & personal preference. Dr. Jaggi will discuss this with each prospective patient during a consultation. Depending on the patients needs & goals, a customized neck lift might consist of one or all three different procedures:
Skin Lift (Cervicoplasty)
This procedure is ideal for patients with poor skin elasticity who may require the removal of excess skin often performed with in conjunction with a facelift.
Neck Lift/Liposculpting
This is a procedure in which the underlying muscles are tightened & fat is repositioned. This procedure provides more dramatic results for patients whose underlying neck tissue is very lax.
Neck Liposuction
This procedure reduces fullness in the neck by removing excess fatty deposits. This can be done on the whole neck or simply beneath the chin. The Neck Liposuction may also be combined with a Neck Lift.
Neck Lift Recovery
Recovery time after a neck lift will depend on the individual, as well as the extent of surgery. Typically, patients return to daily activities, including a return to work, within 2 weeks after surgery. Expect the neck to feel tight for a few weeks, & know that bruising & swelling are normal. These effects should subside gradually, with visible bruising typically gone after the first week, & that "tight" feeling remaining for up to several months.
Neck Lift Surgery Preperation
Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, & herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding. A responsible adult will have to take & pick patient up from surgery & stay with the patient for 24 hours.
